NYC Subway Incident: Police Seek Suspect in Disturbing Case
On April 9, 2025, a deeply unsettling incident occurred aboard a southbound R train near Whitehall Street Station in Lower Manhattan. A 37-year-old man, Jorge Gonzalez, who had reportedly died of natural causes, was allegedly robbed and later sexually violated by two separate individuals.  
Surveillance footage captured a woman stealing from Gonzalez’s body around 10:48 p.m. Approximately 90 minutes later, a man, identified as 51-year-old Carlos Garcia, was seen engaging in sexual acts with the deceased before fleeing the scene. 
Garcia is described as wearing a blue baseball cap, black hooded jacket, yellow hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, red-and-white sneakers, and carrying a black backpack. 
The NYPD urges anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or visit crimestoppers.nypdonline.org.
