JSA2026: “I’m Rewriting What It Means to Be a Felon in New York”

For decades, New York has treated non-violent offenders like violent criminals—stripping them of their rights, futures, and humanity long after they’ve served their time.

That ends the day I take office.

As Governor of New York, I will redefine what a “felon” is under state law. From that day forward, only violent criminals will carry the legal designation of “felon.” Non-violent offenders will be reclassified—and their rights will be restored.

The JSA Fix: Redefining Felons, Restoring Rights
“Felon” will be redefined to only include convictions involving violence, coercion, or sexual harm.

Non-violent individuals (such as drug possession, property crimes, fraud without bodily harm) will be reclassified as “offenders”, not felons.

All non-violent offenders who have served their time will have their civil rights restored—including:

    Voting

    Gun ownership

    Jury service

    Public office eligibility

    Professional licensing

They will no longer be branded for life. They will be treated like citizens, not permanent criminals.

    But What About Federal Law?
    Here’s the legal key:

Under federal law (18 U.S. Code § 922(g)(1)), the gun ban only applies if someone is considered a felon and has not had their rights restored.

    So I say this:

If New York won’t call them felons — then Washington can’t treat them like one.

By redefining the classification and restoring rights explicitly, we give non-violent former offenders the legal foundation to reclaim their Second Amendment rights.

They Will Try to Stop Me. Let Them.
I expect lawsuits. I expect politicians, lawyers, and activist judges to panic. I welcome it.

Let them step forward. Let the court challenges come.

I will stand for every man and woman who made a mistake, served their sentence, and now lives under silent exile. I will say to them:

“Your punishment is over. Your freedom is restored. And no one will take it from you again—not while I’m Governor of New York.”

This Isn’t a Democrat or Republican Issue. It’s a Humanity Issue.
We need public safety — and that starts with distinguishing real threats from reformed citizens. Keeping non-violent offenders branded for life only pushes them further away from jobs, family, and society.

This is about dignity. Opportunity. And redemption.

    Spread the Word
A BETTR New York starts by restoring those who never should’ve been destroyed. This is how we fight mass incarceration and protect our streets — without destroying lives over technicalities.

I’m Jason S. Arnold, and I’m running for Governor to give New York BETTR laws, BETTR justice, and BETTR freedom.

  • BETTR Breakdown: Did a Federal Judge Just Hold the Trump Administration in Contempt?

In a dramatic turn, U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg has found probable cause to hold the Trump administration in criminal contempt, stemming from a deportation flight to El Salvador that allegedly violated a federal court order.

Here’s what happened — and why it matters:

    The Order That Was Ignored?
Judge Boasberg had issued a last-minute court order to halt deportations under the Alien Enemies Act, insisting that detainees be given a chance to challenge their removal in court.

Despite this, the plane took off — and landed in El Salvador, where detainees were transferred to a prison facility. The judge argued the flight should’ve been rerouted or returned. The administration argued it was too late.

    Contempt or Political Overreach?
    Boasberg’s stance:

“If a federal court can’t halt deportations, what power does it have at all?”

He warned that if DOJ fails to investigate, he may appoint a special prosecutor.

    The Trump team’s stance:

The plane had already taken off.

The judge’s ruling was vague and issued too late to enforce.

The administration argues the court is overreaching.

The Supreme Court later vacated the ruling on procedural grounds but still emphasized that deportees are owed due process before removal.

BETTR Perspective: Is Boasberg Right or Just in Too Deep?
From a legal standpoint, Boasberg has standing. Court orders are binding—even on the executive branch. But politically? He’s wading into deep, dangerous waters.

This isn’t just about law—it’s about optics, timing, and legacy. Holding a former president's administration in contempt while that president is actively campaigning in 2024-25 is bound to stir backlash.

    What Comes Next?
The Trump-aligned DOJ may refuse to pursue charges.

Boasberg could move to appoint an independent attorney.

Trump’s allies are already calling for Boasberg’s impeachment—something Chief Justice John Roberts has condemned as political retribution.

    JSA2026 Says:
“This isn’t about one plane or one judge. It’s about whether the rule of law still applies when politics get messy. If courts can’t be respected, then we have no checks. But if judges become politicians in robes — we’ve already lost.”

  • Streaming Showdown: Apple Music Clings to Second Place — But Who’s Closing In Might Surprise You

While Apple Music continues to dominate headlines with curated playlists and exclusive drops, it’s no longer just Spotify in the rearview mirror — it’s Amazon Music that’s fast becoming the real contender for second place.

    Market Snapshot:
Apple Music currently holds 12.6% of the global market share.

Amazon Music trails closely at 11.1%, and it's growing quickly.

In the U.S., Apple leads with 30.7%, but Amazon isn’t far behind at 23.8%.

    (Source: Evoca.tv, DemandSage)

    Why It’s Happening:
Amazon Prime perks + bundled Music access = massive user boost.

Echo devices & Fire OS integration give Amazon a smart home edge.

Apple’s strengths still lie in its ecosystem lock-in and Spatial Audio features, but Amazon's reach is stretching far beyond retail.

    What It Means for Users:
Apple Music may still feel like the “premium” experience, but ease of access, passive users through Prime, and device integration are helping Amazon quietly dominate the race for the #2 spot.

If Apple doesn’t innovate soon or offer broader tiered pricing, we could see a major reshuffling in the music streaming hierarchy by 2026.

    JSA2026 Says:
“Technology reflects the market we live in — legacy names can’t coast forever. Just like in politics, users and voters alike want access, flexibility, and value. If Apple can’t adapt, they might just lose their edge.”

This brings the national total to 800+ confirmed cases across 25+ jurisdictions, with Texas alone reporting 597.

Symptoms include: High fever, cough, runny nose, and a telltale rash.

  • Supreme Court Blocks Deportations Under Alien Enemies Act — For Now
In a late-night emergency order, the U.S. Supreme Court has temporarily halted the deportation of Venezuelan migrants detained under the controversial 1798 Alien Enemies Act. The Biden administration attempted to revive this wartime-era law to fast-track removals—without court hearings.

The ACLU argued the move was unconstitutional. Even conservative justices like Alito called the block "unprecedented," but the high court sided with due process… at least for now.

Ever feel like your soul leaves your body as soon as you log in? Blame Office Space — the cult classic that captured every worker’s worst nightmare. From passive-aggressive bosses to jammed printers, Mike Judge’s 1999 film gave us one of the most relatable lines in cubicle history:

“Sounds like somebody’s got a case of the Mondays.”

What started as a throwaway quote became a global meme for the modern worker’s struggle. It’s still echoing through break rooms, Slack chats, and Monday morning misery.

  • Kanye West Claims Past Incestuous Relationship With Cousin in Shocking Confession

Music icon and controversial figure Kanye West is once again trending after making a bombshell confession during a recent interview — stating he had a past incestuous relationship with a cousin. The revelation is already drawing intense media scrutiny, social backlash, and renewed concern about the rapper’s mental health and influence.

    What He Said
During an unreleased segment of an interview previewed by multiple outlets, Kanye reportedly stated:

“I had an intimate relationship with my cousin... it was a long time ago.”

No further details about the identity of the cousin or the context were provided. The clip, however, is already circulating across platforms, causing a firestorm of reactions ranging from disbelief to calls for cancellation.

    Public Reaction
#KanyeWest quickly trended on X with millions of views within hours.

Social media users are divided — some accusing him of attention-seeking, others expressing concern for his well-being.

Commentators and mental health advocates are urging media restraint and calling for support rather than exploitation of the artist’s revelations.

    Legal and Ethical Implications
While laws vary by state, incestuous relationships between consenting adults are still illegal in many jurisdictions, including California — where Kanye has resided.

    So far:

No legal action has been announced.

No family members have responded publicly.

The full context of the interview has not yet been released.

    BETTR Campaign Perspective
“When culture, mental health, and celebrity collide — it exposes a broken system that rewards spectacle over stability. In New York, we need to refocus our values. Protect the vulnerable. Prioritize truth. And remember that not all headlines deserve our silence.”
