BOOK III — RESURRECTION
Chapter VII — Of the Promised Land
(The Veil Version — VV)
1. Many searched for the promised land,
believing it to be a place prepared for them.
2. Yet no land remains promised
where peace is not also cultivated.
3. For abundance without gratitude
becomes waste.
4. And freedom without restraint
becomes conflict.
5. The people asked continually
when the kingdom would appear,
while neglecting the work required to receive it.
6. For the earth yields only to those
who labor, preserve, and remember.
7. No nation stands through wealth alone,
nor does any people endure
by strength alone.
8. Mercy must stand beside justice,
and truth beside compassion.
9. The strong must not devour the weak,
and the weak must not surrender themselves to despair.
10. Each generation receives the ground only briefly,
not to possess it forever,
but to prepare it for those yet to come.
11. Thus peace is not inherited.
It is maintained.
12. So it was written:
the promised land is not given to those who seek only to enter it,
but to those willing to preserve it for one another.
